Frequently asked questions for Market Making, Instant Sell, automated buy offers, points, and wallets.
Market Maker is Dupe’s automated trading feature for CS2 skins. Instead of placing and updating buy offers by hand, you set up a strategy once (items, pricing source, spread, relist rules). Dupe then creates and maintains buy offers for you, and can automatically relist your aquired items for sale at a premium.
The idea is simple: you buy from sellers below market (using your spread), then relist at a premium when you sell. You earn profit on each trade. That profit is reinvested into your Market Maker balance automatically, so your capital can grow over time without you moving funds around.
When you run a Market Maker strategy, Dupe creates buy offers for the items in your strategy. Those offers don’t only appear on the marketplace, they also appear to sellers on the Sell page (/sell). For each item, Dupe shows sellers the highest buy offer available. That price is what sellers see as the Instant Sell price.
So when a seller chooses Instant Sell for an item you’re offering on, they’re selling into your buy offer. You get the item at your set price (below market, based on your spread). The payment comes from your Market Maker balance, and the item goes to you, or to Dupe’s custody if you use Auto-Custody.
In short: Instant Sell is how sellers sell into the top buy offer for an item. Instant Sell brings sellers to you and helps you buy items at your target price.
If you want to understand Instant Sell from the seller’s side, see the Instant Sell guide.
Dupe Market Maker Balance is a separate balance used only for Market Maker buy offers. When a seller sells to your market maker buy offer (via Instant Sell or by listing on the marketplace), the payment is taken from this wallet.
You fund it from your connected wallet, either a Solana browser extension (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, etc.) or your Dupe Embedded Wallet. You can also move funds into it (e.g. by transferring from your Buy Offer balance) and withdraw from it when you want to claim profits or stop market making. It does not mix with regular buy offer balance.
With Auto Relist turned on, when someone sells an item to your market maker buy offer, the item is automatically listed for sale (after trade protection ends) at your chosen relist premium. You don’t have to list it yourself. If you prefer to sell items manually or are trying to load up inventory on specific items, you can disable Auto Relist.
Yes, every time a P2P listing or instant sell is matched with your buy offer, it will be instantly recreated. To prevent buy offers from being replenished, you must pause or delete the market maker strategy.
Auto Custody lets Dupe’s Steam bots hold items that your market maker strategy buys. That way, the entire market making process is automated and items can be automatically relisted for sale and delivered to buyers without you accepting trades yourself. Items that are custodied by Dupe will appear on the P2P marketplace as "Instantly Deliverable" meaning that buyers will receive their item immedietly upon purchase. You can turn Auto Custody on or off in your strategy.
You choose a price source for your strategy:
Your buy offer prices are based on that source and your spread. Dupe updates item pricing from these sources every 15 minutes.
For additional clarity, Dupe uses the lowest price of each item listed on the marketplace chosen as a pricing source. If there are 100 listings for one item on a marketplace, Dupe will use the listing price of the cheapest one.
You can save multiple strategies (configurations), with multiple active at the same time. You can switch which strategies are active, pause and resume them. When you pause, your market maker buy offers stop being available, sellers won’t see them as Instant Sell options and they won’t match on the marketplace. Your funds stay in your Market Maker Wallet until you resume or withdraw.
Market Making points are awarded weekly based on how helpful your active strategy is for liquidity and pricing:
You need at least one item in your strategy to earn any Market Making points. Also, spread/premium rewards are scaled by an economic contribution gate so tiny ultra-cheap strategies don't earn outsized points.
For full details, see the Dupe Points guide.
Each item can only contribute points to one active config at a time.
When the same item appears in multiple configs, Dupe awards that item to the config with:
Points are calculated and awarded weekly for strategies that have been active for the reward period. You can see a preview of estimated points when you set up or edit a strategy.
If there’s a problem (e.g. the seller doesn’t deliver or declines the trade), Dupe will refund the amount back to your Market Maker balance.
Yes. You can transfer to your Market Maker balance (to fund market making) and transfer from it (e.g. back to your Buy Offer balance or to free up funds). These are separate from depositing or withdrawing USDC using your connected wallet (browser extension or Dupe Embedded Wallet).
Minimums and maximums (e.g. balance, number of items, or strategy size) may apply and can be shown in the app when you create or edit a strategy. Your capital tier for points is based on how much you have in your Market Maker balance.
Happy Trading!
